  1. Noob says:

    do not understand

    and FIRST

    • Jules says:

      You’re stupid.

Cats are known for jumping on keyboards and typing in random things while walking on the keyboard.

And that’s how Eyafjallajökull was born.

      • Morten says:

This pic, and apparently you too – the art of american douchebaggery.

        • Noob says:

          im not american

I love it how people get pissed off if somebody says the word ”first”
          Thats why i said it.

        • Trevor says:

I want to point out that there are douchebags in every country. The only problem is that most of America’s douchebags are on the internet, TV, or are in office.

      • qb says:

ah! but how did the umlot get over the o? what typing witchcraft be this?

        • SupremeLogic1 says:

          Scandinavia Keyboard, thats how.
We got Åå Ää Öö on the keyboards.
          Å is a hybrid betwen a and o, Ä is a hybrid between a and e, Ö is a hybrid between o and e.
          Just putting that out there.

  2. Swingin cactus says:

    CUTE.

  3. jonte says:

    Eyafjallajökul!

    • Philip says:

      Eyafjallajökull!!
You forgot an L at the end.

But how did they figure out the pronunciation?

      • Cynical-Vegemite says:

I love the Scandinavian imagination that’s applied to the naming of this volcano (thanks to my Swedish ex for teaching me the cold, harsh and sometimes brutal logic of Scandinavia) ;)

Eyja – island – pronounced kinda like ‘Aya that hurt’ :)
fjalla – mountain – easy start saying fjord but end with alla instead of ord
jökull – glacier – pronounced kinda like Cletus the slack jawed Yukel :)

  4. mean.girl says:

    what a cute kitteh!!!! :D

  5. Humm. says:

True, and Icelandic and Norwegian for example do sound like that.

  6. Klumpkatt says:

Indeed. We have a beautiful nordic language… In your face english!

    • Pancake Lord says:

You have a keyboard faceroll language- ironically, it is one that is pointlessly complicated (as opposed yo the usual implications of the term “faceroll”).
      Deal.

  7. L4a says:

Funny, but it’s actually called Eyjafjallajökull, not Yjafjallajokull.

  8. LadyRhee says:

This is pretty much a direct rip off of a joke The Oatmeal did a while ago. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/volcano_name

  9. Buster says:

    Isolationism, self-centredness and mental retardation!
No 1 cause of idiots being surprised about there being a whole world outside their borders since, well, forever.

Eyjafjallajökull means “The glacier on the mountain on the island”.

To make fun of someone else when it’s really you that is mind-numbingly ignorant is really not a sign of a good sense of humour.

  10. Troll says:

    copied from the oatmeal…

  11. DugDigger says:

Idea was stolen from ‘TheOatmeal’ ……thats ok, still funny though ^.^

  12. Daniel says:

send it directly to failbook for spelling the name wrong, noob.

  13. x-nooze says:

    Wow. Oversensitive much?

    • shannon says:

I often ask my Scrabble buddies if they’d like to switch to Icelandic. We’d rack in some MAJOR points.

  14. joe says:

Buster is confusing…first he’s mocking the Icelanders – the most isolationist, self-centered people in the world, (I wouldn’t call them mentally disabled).

Then he’s saying its not a sense of humor to mock the Icelanders.

Using his own definition -the one I am not using – Buster must be from Iceland.

  15. calling it. says:

WEAK! this is just a copy of The Oatmeal! and a rather late copy, might i add.

    http://theoatmeal.com/comics/volcano_name

  16. The Giver says:

It’d help if it were spelled correctly in the caption…

  17. Jovi says:

quite humorous this foto, icelandic is the most dificult language to speak. Nordic languages and portuguese veyr hard idd. Americans open your eyes! ZOFMAMasdklfm,a

  18. arnor says:

well, being icelandic i can’t really understand what the big fuzz about the name is… wikipedia even has a soundclip with the right pronounciation.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyjafjallaj%C3%B6kull

  19. Siggi says:

im actually from Iceland and its.
    Eyjafjallajökull
    a-ya-fjaglar-jukull
that would be the english one
and yes icelandic is weirdly difficult.

    • Alcevaro says:

      fjalla = fjaglar?…with a “gl”???
it’s like greek, when you have a double “g”, the first one sounds like an “n”…euaggelion = euangelion… *O*
i love danish and icelandic and norsk, beautifuls languages, i know more from danish although

  20. Phil says:

Copied from the Oatmeal. For shame.

  21. Future Researcher of a Lesser Evil says:

I don’t find what’s so funny about this. Icelandic and Norwegian are very similar to this. Though I’m usually not a stickler for people making “fun” of foreign languages, I find this rather insulting. And I’M not even from Iceland or Norway.

  22. Jesus says:

    cutest furry little bastard evar!

  23. its over 9000 says:

in Icelandic, that is pronounced ‘Mountain’ XD
    i kid…i kid…

  24. Embla says:

    You’re all wrong! It’s eyjafjallajökull. It’s a J!

  25. Neotogo says:

YOU STOLE THIS FROM OATMEAL YOU BASTARD!

  26. LuciDNi says:

Wonder if the Old Ones named this Volcano?

  27. Jesussaurus Rex says:

    DSFARGEG

  28. yet another instance of
    WELL, THAT EXPLAINS IT!

  29. hmmm says:

Suddenly the whole world makes sense with this poster…

  30. Magnús Ingi Jónsson says:

HAHAHA, You think Eyjafjallajökull is a funny word? The Icelandic language has got so many strange words let me give you some examples: Snæfellsjökull, Kaldrananes, Kringilsárrani and Möðrudalsöræfi. Hahaha, I would really like all of you to try to say thease words ;D that is just a little part of the “funny” Icelandic words. But anyway, greetings from the land of strange names, beautiful landscape and the ash :D

  31. Fracture says:

    1. Find volcano

    2. Put cat on Keyboard.

    3. Egbvylawbdeuy

    4. Profit?

  32. Ungførkje says:

    Klumpkatt, love the name. :D
But what on earth did you do to that poor creature to render it in such a state?

  33. Rakel. says:

I’ts Eyjafjallajökull. haha I love when people try to say it. it sounds like they’re puking.

  34. Lisa says:

I think it is an awesome eye-opener language for english speakers, but I do have one serious question-
Do they have “Wheel of Fortune”? And does their Vanna wear rollerblades to keep the how under a half-hour? XD Peace!
