Funny as it is, when the soles of kids’ shoes started to blink, we’ve all speculated something similar will be invented real soon… and since there are 8cm CD’s and DVD’s, it’s still not impossible…

I live in what you used to call a second world country. Our shoes didn’t blink until the late 90s.

Easier to put an MP3 player with an SD or xD slot in.
Not to mention longer battery life, & less skipping.

Surely just a questionably styled ghetto blaster… if that’s a full size (12cm / 4.75″) CD drive then this dudes feet must be huge – size 15+….
It’s a 80mm/3″ CD, a.k.a. CD3, or Mini CD Single. It holds 24 minutes of music or 210 MB.
You can also find DVD-Rs in that size (1.4 GB, 2.66 GB DL). There are even 3″ BD-RE disks already (7.5 GB). You could record on them in Red Book format I suppose to make very long playing CDs on the more advanced media.
