brought to you by another sheep who hasn’t even bothered to look up Socialism in the dictionary, let alone in a history book.

    • Welthos says:

Yeah, the real word is Fascism, but people associate that too strongly with Hitler, so it’s not used.

Fascism: Gov’t control of private industry.

      • Benzinex says:

        Ummmm no.

fascism |ˈfa sh ˌizəm| (also Fascism)
        noun
an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.
        • (in general use) extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.
The term Fascism was first used of the totalitarian right-wing nationalist regime of Mussolini in Italy (1922–43), and the regimes of the Nazis in Germany and Franco in Spain were also fascist. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach.

        • jerjer says:

ummm no there is debate but there shouldn’t be an extremely right winged person is an anarchist, right wingers don’t like government jackass!

          • =8)-DX says:

You clearly totally misunderstand the left-right divide (which is in itself mostly a false distinction in todays politics).

“liking government” – is not a left-right distinction. That’s the libertarian / authoritarian destinction.

Stupid poster. Obama is a centrist, not a socialist – we have THOSE here in Europe, I can tell.

            • jen says:

@=8)-DX, Libertarianism is the exact opposite of what you just claimed it to be. It is borderline anarchism… very limited government. Government only aids in defense, upkeep like roads etc, and schooling I believe…

            • jen says:

wait- never mind, ignore what i said.

            • Mavis says:

you obviously don’t understand it either, left wing is liberal which implies strong federal government control
right wing is conservative which implies capitalism and free enterprise where the money is controlled by private companies

learn what you are talking about before trying to ‘educate’ others on it

          • Steve says:

Actually anarchism isn’t on the left/right scale. Also the right in America believes in small government, not none. Small government isn’t a fundamental right wing thing. In Britain Thatcher eroded the powers of local government and Nationalised it..

            • Shad says:

More precisely, the “Right” in America believes “small government” means them being in charge. Note how almost every single one of them stopped complaining about government expansion when Bush got the presidency, only to jump out of the woodwork and reform the militias when a Democrat took over…

              • ToeJam says:

That’s how you can tell the “Neo-Cons” from the “real” conservatives (note, I did not say ‘Right’ or ‘Republicans’); they were complaining about the Bush administrations rampant government growth. But sadly, you’re correct, most like Bush simply becasue he had an “R” next to his name.

            • bj says:

OMG! Someone who actually knows what a right wing is! *Bow and kisses feet* Thank you for actually knowing what your talkin about =\^^/=

        • Shinra528 says:

Here’s the real definition: “a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism. ” Nothing in there about it being right wing you leftist nut.

        • David says:

Fascism is a form of socialism. I’m not sure how that makes it right wing, but apparently absolute control is the opposite of absolute control, since Fascism is supposedly “far right” and communism is “far left.” By the way, communists in the reischtag voted in lock step with Nazi’s…

          • ub3r says:

i think far right and far left have a tendency to come full circle rather than behave in a linear fashion much of the time. thinking of it in this manner allows for far right and far left to be the same point of course…

      • Amy says:

No, dear- fascism: extreme nationalism formed in response to the growing popularity of Marxism.

Do some research next time before you start using such big words, mmkay?

      • Zibeb says:

        Godwin’s Law proved again!

    • DB says:

I guess he used the wrong word. Egotistical Wannabe Dictator would have been a better choice. All Hail The Annointed One.

    • jon says:

      What Is A
      “Haphephobic”
      So Afraid Of?

    • Spellcheckgirl says:

You should really do a thorough spell-check before making a remark such as this.
It only proves that you are not intelligent enough to have an opinion on the matter.

      I doubt it.

      Gotta love em!

      • Brt says:

dude… how can you hate something that you don’t even know?! that’s impossible! Socialism has some good points. Capitalism isn’t that good at all… The poor people will always get poorer, and the rich people will always get richer. Socialism stands for equality.

        • Squirrel says:

well actually socialism stands for corruption but yeah close enough

        • ssww says:

Equality for who?! Capitalism is what made this the greatest country in the world. Everyone has the opportunity to pursue their dream, start a business, buy a home, make money. Why should I share my wealth with someone who hasn’t done the work. I think you should educate yourself on what Socialism is, and why it fails 100% of the time.

          • non american says:

Do you still believe in the American Dream?

            How cute.

          • Cameron Winter says:

Oh you mean like in China, the worlds largest Socialist state and presently the worlds fastest growing economy?

          • hawkeye says:

Yeah, because of the Godly Capitalism has not done anything wrong, like creating poverty and recessions and having status and such. It has done nothing bad. I suppose you’re too rich to understand all of this, right?

            • fish29 says:

Poverty was around far before Capitalism… what the hell are u talking about?

            • Random_Numbers says:

I guess you are too dense to understand that poverty is not created, it is the natural state of man. Only prosperity is created. Capitalists know how.

              • hmmmm... says:

But couldn’t capitalism, in creating prosperity, create poverty? If, let’s say, a boss prospers over his capitalistic business by withholding wages from his employees, he gains money, but they are in poverty.

          • sliderossian says:

Socialism fails 100% of the time. I wish idiots like you would just dry up and blow away, because you have no brains to think with, just an overwhelming need to bleat (loudly and with your fingers in your ears) with the sheep.

SOCIAL Security is socialism. The infrastructure (bridges, roads, the internets, airports, most trains, busses, etc., is SOCIALISM. The US Postal system is socialism. The Army, Navy, Marines, etc., are socialism.

Yeah, let’s give ‘em all up and rely on the private sector to take care of all that. Yeah, genius, that’ll work.

STFU, idiot. Go back to oiling your gun or whacking off or whatever you do for intellectual engagement.

            • David says:

Social security is running a deficit. The US postal service… sucks. And it’s also worthy to mention the DMV…

The government does a brilliant job keeping the infrastructure maintained too, don’t they? And those trains and busses turn so much of a profit now that they’re no longer private industries… /sarcasm

The only things the government ever does right are law enforcement and military actions, and calling those “socialist” is a bit of a stretch.

              Checkmate.

              • Battlingdragon says:

Actually, calling the police and army socialist isn’t any sort of stretch. Socialism’s creed is “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”

IE: The more money you make, the more you pay in taxes. The more you need the police in your area, the more often they show up.

          • sliderossian says:

SOCIAL security is BROKE. our infrastructure is ERODING. OH, the US Postal system is broke as well. Hooray for Socialism huh? Idiots recycling gibberish from other idiots. Blame Bush while you’re at it.

            • jen says:

              @sliderossian
USPS vs. UPS… I think it’s clear that the private sector usually does a better job.

The problem with government jobs is there’s absolutely no competition, it’s not allowed. If you try to work hard other workers will threaten you because you’re making them ‘look bad’. But whatever, it’s irrelevant.

It’s not we the people or the governments who are in charge, it’s the group of wealthy and influencing people who are and all they care about is keeping themselves in power, keeping their money, and propagating their agenda. Look at the Rothschilds. Look at the ‘secret meetings’ that are held with world leaders, billionaires, etc (including obama, bush, etc). If you think capitalism or socialism or communism or any textbook form of government is going to stop them, you’re wrong. The only way to fix things would be to completely wipe out all financial systems. No more money. Reset. But that wont happen in my lifetime. We’re too entranced by our iphones, our television series, our fantasies of self righteousness.

          • Jayodi says:

You are a complete and total f***ing moron, you know that? Socialism is an economic state that focuses on society, not individuals. Not everyone has the dream to start a business and make a lot of money. Just because that’s YOUR dream doesn’t make it everyone’s dream. It’s equality because everyone is treated equally. You want to be treated better than others because you feel you do more work, which is untrue. Laborers get very poor wages, and they work a lot harder than It guys, who make pretty good wages. However, in today’s society, both are required for society to function normally, so why not get treated equally and paid equally?

Also, America is NOT the greatest country in the world, and you’re a blind jackass for thinking it is. It’s that attitude that makes everyone else on the planet despise your country. I’ve seen a lot of good from your country, but I’ve also seen a lot of bad. While there are a lot of Americans I genuinely like, I hate pig-headed Americans like you – so blinded by their own propaganda that they can’t see the truth: You’re overly-zealous patriotic warmongers. Think about your past for a second: American Revolutionary war, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, Civil War, the Spanish-American War, Philippine–American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War(you fought in that one, don’t deny it), Vietnam War, Afghanistan War, Persian Gulf War, “War on Terror”, Iraq War. So in 200 years, you’ve been involved in 14 wars. That I’m aware of.

            • INFINITESIMALLY2 says:

look dude – i took 4 tears of calculus in order to work in IT so forgive me if i don’t agree that others should be paid “equally”. What socialist country are you from?

            • asndg says:

The reason that an IT guy makes a considerable amount more than a laborer is because that IT guy got his ass off the couch, put the bong down, and started studying. I’m not gonna give my wages over to someone who spent most of their high school days making bongs in shop class and getting arrested. They made that choice and now they have to live with it. It’s called incentive you f***-head.

              • Zero says:

Heh, maybe some people are actually born in slightly worse circumstances than you?
You can’t deny that people born into poor backgrounds are more likely to come out that way – that’s just the way the world works.

Just be thankful that your government spends a lot of money on a public school system rather than relying on a largely private one – so people actually have the faintest chance of breaking the poverty cycle.

                • orcadb says:

                  Bull****

Take the example of my two cousins. Siblings, raised in the same circumstances, with the same abusive father. One has gotten on her own and has a loving husband and children. The other is in prison. Your circumstances are a very small influence on what you will become. It is your attitude and decisions that will make or break you. Don’t ever assume that because someone is born into negative cicumstances they will stay there. There are scholarships, grants and loans for people who need them to further their education.

            • bj says:

yup, all but 1 of those wars involved other countries… and most countries have had/ are having/ or will have civil wars. Sorry to say, but violence is human nature.

          • Equality?? says:

Agreed…the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer is such a myth. Besides, the lawmakers who promote class warefare by telling the public the rich are so bad, are themselves RICH..duh

          • dave says:

Like it’s failing in all those European countries with crime rates lower than the US, higher living standards than the US, and similar freedoms? 100% of the time? Ha!

Yes. Exactly two thirds of the Earth’s population is fully capable of being jealous that we have indoor plumbing, created the internet and could friggin’ END whatever God-forsaken third-world s**thole you happen to be in.

Americans are arrogant because we’ve earned the right. Let us know when your culture discovers the comma.

It’s great that you’re able to access the internet. Now, pull the bone out of your nose and learn how to use simple punctuation.

            HA HA HA HA HA!
“The greatest country in the world”
That was hilarious! You must have worked hard on that one, but it really made my day to read something so obviously said as a joke, and yet still funny!
            …It WAS a joke, right?

          • uzuhl says:

Oh yeah, this is the greatest country in the world all right. We have higher high school dropout rates, our economy just went down the tubes. No one is going to college. We’re number 26 (of 30 developed countries) in science, and number 21 in math. And 60% of our Math/Science teachers will be of retirement age THIS YEAR and most will retire. Not to mention that our schools are already incredibly underfunded, and we have a government who doesn’t care enough to give the schools more money. All of my books in high school (mainly math and science) were at least 5 years old. Because my school could not afford new books the students had to go without and learn everything that was years behind everyone else, so the teachers just taught what they knew and said to hell with the books. Teachers. Oh yeah, teachers, the underpaid, under appreciated people who spend years in school so they can teach the children of the good ol’ USA. Yeah, you know, this is the greatest country in the world…..

          • Say what?! says:

Correction, SLAVERY is what made the US the “greatest country in the world”. Greatest in what way? It has the largest army. One of the largest GDPs, if you have money you can get whatever you want, but if you don’t you’re f***ed.

A country should be viewed as to how it treats the most unfortunate, not how rich the richest are.

          • En says:

Hmm, you lost me at “greatest country on earth”. Try again later.

        • vpadid says:

I’m not rich but I can’t see giving what I work hard for over to someone that doesn’t want to just to make them equal.

        • FreedomLover98 says:

No capitalism stands for giving everyone an opprotunity to better their lives, socialism stands for pushing 98% of the population down to the bottom 1% while the remaining 1% call the shots and decry the greed of the capitalists while getting fat off of their corruption and the (mostly figurative) rape of the general population. Making the population dependant on the government is the easiest way to achomplish this, thus public healthcare.

        • asndg says:

Socialism doesn’t promote production and there for it is not sustainable. Stop bitching about things being fair and get your ass away from your computer and go make your own money. I have a s**t job and a dumpy apartment but I don’t bitch about people owing me anything. I’m tired of the weak-willed idea that the government should make everything all better. Get up and do it yourself. If we all did, the world wouldn’t suck as much

        • Doc says:

Socialism stands for equality or RESULTS. regardless of effort. If you are gonna get free food and TV, why would anyone try to become a doctor or scientist? The potential for profit is the only motivator. That is why the poor want socialism. Better profit for doing nothing

        • T says:

Talk about stupidity. If someone has a gun at my head and claims they’re going to shoot me, I take that seriously.

When our president decides to take over automobile companies, banks, the student loan industry and the medical industry that is Socialism. Socialism represents a lack of freedom. Stop your damn whining about “the rich get richer”. Dude, those willing to work their ass off and take risks and invest their resources wisely get richer, while those who are lazy, don’t save, don’t invest get poorer. It’s called freedom of choice. If you want to sit on your lazy ass and play video games all day knock yourself out, but don’t expect me to pay your bills or provide you healthcare out of the money I make working 16 hours a day. If you want to be treated “equally” then take advantage of the freedom America offers to pack your bags and move to England or France or Canada!

          • LOL says:

i love how he made a huge comment but failed at notcing that england is part of the U.K, which is a lot easier than saying scotland, england, wales and northern ireland

          • tahrey says:

            Love the rant there.

Don’t come calling me to borrow ten bucks to tide you over if your employer goes bust or has to cut jobs (and one of them is yours), you can’t find an open position anywhere no matter how hard you try, and the rent is due… and you’re short $9.67…

Always seems to be those in what they assume are steady jobs for life that hold this kind of “we’ll look after ourselves! welfare states are evil” attitude… Now I live in a country where a lot of the employment used to be in that sort of job. Note, used to. The guys holding your stance ended up being the ones that fell hardest and had the most trouble getting fresh work — because there was a big economic contraction, particularly in those industries – the only job they actually knew how to do – because the work went to cheaper places.

Luckily here we have a decent welfare system so they could continue to live – not comfortably, but humanely at least – and get some kind of retraining into the sort of jobs that were all there were left.

In your perfect every-man-for-himself utopia, they’ll all be begging on the streets. Yourself included.

        • David says:

Actually, both the poor and the rich get richer, the rich just get richer faster than the poor. Quit concerning yourself with gaps and realize that the percentage of people on the world making less than $1 per day adjusted for inflation has been going down ever since the US started outsourcing labor to China. Those sweatshops are doing the Chinese a favor.

If Al Gore, Jr. had either won his (and his daddy’s) state, or his outgoing president’s state, he would have been elected president. Dear Lord, at least Mondale won his own state!

Bush didn’t cheat. The various Florida party machines (Brown County et. al.) didn’t do a good enough job, cheating. The best way to get “hanging chads” is by not cleaning the mass produced ballots before you stuff the ballot box.

        It’s history. Move on.

      • fish29 says:

Did you know that Gore was the only candidate EVER to lose their home state! If he would’ve won Tenessee, he would’ve won and nothing else would’ve mattered. He couldn’t even win his home state! Let’s believe him on this whole GLOBAL WARMING thing though. HE DID INVENT THE INTERNET!

Except spending the money in others country helps their economy… not ours, and the amount that has been spent is digging the hole deeper… the way to make money is to work at it… not spend it… IDK about you, but I never paid my job money to hire me… cuz it doesn’t work that way

Judging by the rankings there are a lot of conservatives with nothing better to do but vote over and over. It’s not as if they have full time jobs anymore due to the fact that they lost their jobs in the recession that started during Bush’s presidency.

      • Welthos says:

        pixie…

The recession started nine months before the Bush/Gore, Jr. election. BEFORE anyone knew who was going to be elected president. It wasn’t the Clinton economy, it was the Gates/Greenspan economy. Obama is one of the few US presidents who has actually effected the economy from the legislation that he supported.

Add to that the phenomenal impact on the insurance, travel and tourist industries of 9/11… and the US and world economies took a hit that is still felt in 2010.

Add to that Barney Frank et. al. promoting home ownership for people who can’t afford homes and not regulating the derivatives… and today’s economy just sucks.

Obama came into a bad economy. Just not sure more fascist control is a solution, considering fascist control is partly responsible.

        • seahawk says:

greenspan was free market to the extreme, and was given free reign over the economy by clinton, and greenspan brought it dangerously close to collapse a couple of times. bush just continued on greenspans policies and added in his own mixture of war and consumptionism (consumerism?).

i honestly fail to see how obama is fascist as he seems to be very cautious and more of a compromiser than anything else.

          • Kat says:

I would suggest that you do your research. Look into Barney Frank’s and Chris Dodd’s dealings with the mortgage companies. Research how many times GWB warned Congress about the financial mess the US was getting into from 2001 on because of the loans banks were forced to make to people whom they knew could not sustain mortgage payments. And above all, Google ACORN’s hand in this whole mess. Then get back to us about how Pres. Obama “inherited” this mess.

          • ElemWiz says:

Actually, speaking as a Democrat, it was Clinton, Greenspan, AND the Congressional Republican majority that gutted regulations which led to this mess. It’s not just the Republicans fault, Clinton wanted it too.

          • busyinVegas says:

NO! Bush didn’t just “Let The Banks Do Whatever The Hell They Wanted. So The Banks Sold And Bought Your Mortgage For Way More Than What It Should’ve Been.” It’s the greedy idiots who signed the mortgage contracts, thinking they could buy a house that they couldn’t afford! Umm, duh! Typical liberals – always blaming someone else for their own stupidity and greediness.

          • Renrag242 says:

Are you stupid? The whole point of a free market is that we don’t interfere. Plus the Democrats have the majority, so even if Republicans all say no, Democrats can still win. It’s the bickering between the Democrats not getting anything you want done.

          • FacePalm says:

Yes blame the Republican party for being the party of no, buecase COngress needs so many of their votes to get anything passed, oh wait they don’t need any of the republican votes so who cares if they became the “party of no”.

        • danimal says:

yeah seriously, i mean, when is he going to pull out his magic wand and cast a spell to get all the jobs back…oh wait, that’s right, we didn’t elect harry potter…duh, how silly of me to think that you can do something to instantly get all the jobs back that were lost in a recession…i’m so ignorantly impatient…silly, silly me…

        • The Amazing Rando says:

That evil George Bush…Had the nerve to actually win two elections…what a dummy…no wait…he was an evil genius who fooled us all…no wait he was actually a stupid ignorant….no but he was able to lie and get congress to fall for everything….wait…no…..he couldn’t even pronounce Nuclear….

          • trickster says:

But I thought we’re supposed to blame EVERYTHING on the president as soon as they’re sworn in, regardless if it’s their fault or not?!

      • strayers says:

Cou can’t friggin’ type very well, who would think cou can think well either. Cou can’t even make a minute’s worth of sense either – “the one” what, what other type of change can change be? I think I hear your grandma calling you in from the sandbox.

        • Sean says:

I don’t see the point in arguing about who’s fault it is, do you? The fact is, the recession is here, and we can either point fingers untill we die of old age, or we can tighten our belts an live with it! Now socialism: good in theory, bad in practice, capitalism: Good for the rich/middle class, bad for the lower class. That covers all of the bases, so either you people can go preach revolution on a soapbox, or just go away, but really, I don’t need to hear your opinion on whose fault the recession was.

  17. Politico says:

Wow, figures. Anytime there’s a Bush or Fox News reference, hilarity ensues and insulting conservatives in general is fair game. Soon as the shoe’s on the other foot and something like this pops up: *whine-whine-whine*

Then you wonder why we tend to ignore to you.

    • Babaganush says:

Yes, poor poor conservatives – the life blood of America, so mistreated! Do you cry yourself to sleep on that rhetoric? I think Republicans in general really need to drop the “poor me” complex and take responsibility for the fact they can’t stand behind a black president for no other reason than that and are intentionally blocking any and all legislation that comes from the Dem’s regardless of it’s use or otherwise.

I suppose you’ll ignore this too. Probably too busy loading your home bunker full of firearms to protect yourself from the imaginary tyrants you created for this years version of Washington that the voice of the people put there.

ALL don’t pay taxes. Here is an educational for you:

The bottom 50% (below the median income), earn 13% of the income and pay 3% of the taxes.

So if you think you have a right to something, you are being delusional. Government should have role in Law and Order, Minimum Regulation, National Security basic infrastructure.

      • Meow says:

He’s barely left of centre and that’s being generous. Why don’t you come to Australia and meet a real socialist?!

Seriously I’m going to have to utterly condemn anyone naive enough to think Obama is an actual socialist. I mean the whole healthcare thing is the only thing I can think of that’s actually socialist about him and even then that’s like saying having a government owned military is socialist; it may be true but it’s hardly left-wing proper socialist policy.

I encourage all Democrats in America to pull their heads out of their asses, man up and try practicing some actual liberal, honest to goodness left-wing policies.

Sorry for the rant but the candy-ass centrism that Americans call “left-wing” just really gets my goat.

Ah you just revealed your true totalitarian colors. Nobody “Runs” this country. The fact that you think you do now is just pathetic. Only in your dreams. Also since you think that you currenlty “Run” this country you projected your own totalitarian illusions onto the republicans by declaring that they had “Ran” the country. I”m willing to be that if you or people like ever did get the chance (heaven forbid) to “run” this country there would certainly never be any b!tching or moaning allowed unless someone wanted to be sentenced to a re-education camp.

    • PeevedGuy says:

LOL. Like there is a difference between the “they” now and the “they” from a few years ago. “We” are no more running the country now than we were then. “They” just have you fooled into thinking you do because “they” are feeding you a different line of BS.

But hey, if it makes you feel better…

possibly because he’s your first fairly elected president for eight years and has policy aims more rooted in making sure everyone in the US has a decent basic standard of life than anything the supposedly “instructed by God” predecessor did?

and because the person who made the demotivator doesn’t actually have a clue what they’re on about and is just going for a cheap dig at something they fear and understand, when previous presidential jokes were generally based on the last guy being either an obvious war-obsessed buffoon, or acting the role as a decoy so well that we might not find out what he was REALLY up to for another 50 years?

not really all costs. i can laugh at dumb stuff obama may do or strange aspects of his behaviour. go find some and make a joke about those. idiot points about policies he was ELECTED on the strength of, yeah i’ll defend him against that.

Sarah ought to be President, then she’d show all those liberals how a country should be ran. She’s brave, intelligent, and is a real American patriot. Our forefathers would be proud of Sarah!

      • nyo says:

No they would probably be disgusted.

      • Erik the Dude says:

The rich aren’t all hard-working, and the poor aren’t all lazy. Fact of the matter though, you probably weren’t even affected by the income tax hike that Obama issued. That’s not a personal jab, just going on statistics.

The federal government needed tax money coming in more quickly to mend the 10-trillion-dollar scar that Bush left behind and also to fund Obama’s oh-so-evil plans to spend money within our borders. An increase to the tax rate of the rich and wealthy nets the biggest increase while doing the least harm to individuals and families. The rich have disposable income, while the poor need to keep as much of theirs as they possibly can.

The result, at least in the case of the poor yet employed, is a symbiotic relationship between classes. The poor work for the rich, keeping the money coming in and collecting only scraps, enough to get by but not much more. Meanwhile, the rich are paying higher taxes thus funding Medicare and public education for their employees’ children.

My favorite moment was the Republican boy who was anti-socialism …. which he spelled “socilism” … way to go people who have NO IDEA what is going on.

  54. Dave says:

Look…go ahead and say that whoever made this doesn’t know what Socialism is…whatever. Any way you hack it…Obama, along with our tax and spend congress is driving an already bad economy into the ground. Who the hell cares what party affiliation a candidate is with? If they are spending money that they don’t have on programs that won’t work, the government is not doing what it is supposed to do. What is the government supposed to do? “Establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” Direct from the preamble to the constitution. If you don’t understand what the government is doing and the effect it will have on your everyday life…don’t just go throwing slogans around and calling people names…it only demonstrates that you don’t know about what is really going on.

  55. Demetrius says:

My hat’s off to you, Gordy. I’m pretty liberal about most things. But, I have a lot of respect for a principled, consistent, conservative stance. If a workable, well thought out solution to a problem comes from either side (or the middle) it should be considered. Ideologues at both extremes should think more about actual problem solving – not just scoring political points.

    • Michael says:

And if we had more people with both of your mind sets the government would actually work, instead of getting bogged down. Which it does amazingly well.

  56. doesn't matter says:

Just throwing this in there, Bush had a budget surplus when he was sworn in, by the time he was out of office the national debt was over ten trillion dollars.

    • T says:

Disingenuous lie. You’re comparing the budget to the national debt. He inherited a national debt. Granted he doubled it during his 8 years in office, but then again Obama has doubled that in one year. To slam Bush for his spending without condemning Obuma is extremely hypocritical and shows you have no concern for facts or reality.

  57. AnnaBabeyy says:

ok im australian so i dont rly giv a flying crap about american politics but i thought obama is doing alright? (try having a pm who cant get aussie slang right) im also going 2 b a hypocrite and say… its a freaking PICTURE with a few words, get ova it.

  58. DoDo says:

    Shouldn’t this be:

SOCIALISM – You’re doing it wrong.

    ??

  59. tahrey says:

….then give it back to you in the form of useful public services, which the USA is somehow sorely lacking despite an unimaginably huge national debt.

Get to f***, and while you’re there, look up the definition and intent of taxes. Or would you rather live in a Stephenson-Gibson type corporate anarchy? You wouldn’t like it.

    • tahrey says:

Oh yeah…. The republicans also collect taxes, btw. Come on.

Public healthcare and the like is NOT going to take “all” of your money. No it won’t. Trust me. I live in a country with such a system in place. A touch over 20% of my (meagre) gross earnings are deducted before hitting my bank account – into general taxation (which fixes the roads, runs the government in general, funds the military (which sucks up more money than any social justice policy could ever DREAM of), pays for public schooling so’s yo’ kids ain’t as dum as they’m be wid’out it, etc), pension fund, and paying off student loan, but also National Insurance for useful things I’ve been very glad I could rely on before — unemployment benefits, health service, etc.

Shockingly, even though I’m paying back my previous reliance on them, paying in advance for any future use, and for their provision for those less fortunate (and, sadly, a smaller proportion of workshy lazy spongers), I’m not broke. I can pay the rent and utilities, buy food, run my car, go out and have a good time occasionally, and even put a small amount into independent savings.

Jesus, you people, its like you never managed to snap out of McCarthy’s spell. Yeah. Communism bad, I think we can agree on that (or at least, the corrupt form it’s usually expressed as). Some form of government social responsibility? Er… yeah. That’s alright. Trying to compare the two is like putting cyanide and headache pills into the same bracket just because a certain, but differing, amount of both can kill you.

I know my country’s still not perfect. The number of people living rough is a testament to that if nothing else. But we try to fix it, and our homeless problem is dwarfed by yours… and as far as I’ve seen, a lot of it is because that essential safety net is missing for good, honest, hard working people who hit what would otherwise be a short spell of bad luck that ends up ruining the rest of their shortened lives.

      • ub3r says:

hrmm. i live and work in the US and lose a touch over 30% to taxes each check, and i fall into the middle class earnings bracket. unfortunately, my taxes do not pay for my school loans, they obviously don’t pay for national insurance (i’m assuming you are referring to health insurance here?), and they supposedly pay for social security funds (perhaps like the pension fund you mention) that is likely to be dried up by the time i reach retirement age (in about 40 years).

the issue here seems to be that the massive amount of taxes (both on a federal and state level, particularly my state) are primarily used to fund massive pension benefits for government employees that are protected from layoffs of just about any kind, regardless of the state of the economy. i consider myself independent, rather than aligning with either the right or the left as i agree with some of both sides’ ideals. i would certainly not mind having the benefits you seem to enjoy, but i would rather we cleaned up our current spending mess first, rather than trying to add a multi-billion dollar health insurance reform first.

        • tahrey says:

Now, that’s the sort of counter argument I’m happy to actually sit and listen to then mull and reflect on. I mean, it’s got some goddamn information as backup for a start.

Also I wonder how many people who were crying about all this beforehand have now STFU on hearing it’s NOT an “NHS” type plan. It’s just about regulating the PRIVATE, CAPITALIST health insurance firms so they stop acting like the evil mofo’s they appear to be so far. I mean, I saw some of the sopranos and various other fictional media coming out of the states that touched on it, I knew it was bad, but the news coverage about what the reform fixes that came out after it passed really did prove that truth is stranger than fiction.

All-but declining people for future cover because they were in a car accident that wasn’t even their fault, or jacking the premiums to un-affordable levels (effectively blacklisting them) that make just saving your money to pay the bills direct a more attractive prospect. I mean, come on. Ebernezer Scrooge would be a crying with pride.

Forcing the insurance firms to play fair with paying customers is just so far from socialism/communism I don’t even know where to start with it.

          • ub3r says:

I concur with your assessment of the health care package. I have a friend who has “cavernous malformations” (basically he is prone to having petit mal seizures) and he was unable to get private health insurance when he was out of work as a result. I think that is unfair, as he needs the coverage and help (prescription assistance) far more than I do. Bottom line – I agree that the private insurance companies needed some regulation. I find the cost of the bill to be rather suspect, and I think it is probably inflated by the red tape issue that is always present.

Something I didn’t really touch on before – an enormous percentage of taxes is slated for defense spending, and I’m okay with that (although I don’t really agree with some of the wars we’ve engaged in and some of the troop deployments we have around the world). What really bothers me is not how much money is being taken out of my check for public health care, but how much money is being taken out of my check “for public health care,” meaning it is likely being spent elsewhere.

Everyone knows socialism doesn’t work in our country: just look at the post office, our police officers and firefighters. I want a privatized fire department so my fire-care provider would be able to tell me who can put out the fire at my house. Hawaii has had socialized health care for 50 years, and that’s why no one wants to go there. That and it’s so hideous there.

Please say you can detect the sarcasm in this post.

Here is a good example of a socialist fail; England is socialist. It has the economic impact of modern day greece (practically none). My relatives (who actually live there) are fed up with socialism. Most people won’t apply for the benefits, and most of the benefits apply to illegal aliens(which should be dealt with, and not given handouts)

    • Shaun says:

      1) England is not a country in the same way that the US is (it’s the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Ireland if you’re interested.

      2) You only think of “England” as communist because of Clement Atlee and the 1945 government (and I’ll get to that later). New Labour at the moment is right wing, as various people have already said.

      3) Though Atlee was one of the best Prime Ministers of Britain, his government was not the one which came up with one of the greatest (and I’ll shoot anyone down who doesnt beleive that it was. Its not the greatest now but its still something to be proud of) things of the post war shake up, the NHS. The NHS was the brain child of William Beveridge (a liberal). Atlee’s Government, a socialist government and seriously helped the post war Britain get back on its feet with privitisation of various industries including coal and the rail.

  87. Thatonenewguyoverthere says:

Why can’t people break free of the political party system and form their own opinions? I don’t follow Democrats or Republicans; I believe that the nationalization (big business bailout) program was a poor choice. Also, taking the United States’ population into account, socialized healthcare is likely to encounter a good deal of problems if rushed as it has been. The people who are getting so worked up over this and sticking to their party need to lighten up and think for once.

  102. HaloPrime17 says:

Ha its funny because its true. That is till he does actually take my money. Then it will just be sad.

  103. Ryan says:

The irony in this whole debate is that the “Republicans” used to hold the views the “Democrats” now hold, in addition to the fact that the “Democrats” used to hold the views that the “Republicans” now hold. The entire two-party system is based on flip-flopping, thus rendering all of your arguments about party lines invalid. Obama may have socialist tendencys, but it not a socialist government. The thing about it is that people want social services but not the higher taxes that fund them. It’s basically a debate over big government versus reduced government. The thing people have to remember is that you cannot have social services AND lowered taxes. Simple as that. Trying to make the system work in that fashion is the exact reason why the economy is failing. Not enough money is being paid in to support it. Either pay your raised taxes and love your social systems, or cut them and have the extra money to put back into the economy in the form of untaxed, expendible money.

  104. Stuntdude says:

“For the last time, I take YOUR money!”

    Isn’t that called taxes?

  105. Ryan says:

Yes, it is. The point of the debate people are having on this poster is how they don’t want to be taxed. They want the social programs, but don’t want to pay the taxes.

  106. Too...Many...Noobs says:

The primary problem with all this is that you have two groups: the idealists and the realists.
The Idealists are those who realize that socialism, IN THEORY, is a perfect government.
The Realists realize that Socialism does not work in real life, as humanity’s greed corrupts the system. Most Realists realize that Capitalism is 2nd-best after Socialism. Frankly put, Capitalism is Darwinism on an individual scale: Those who don’t smoke weed, pot, etc through high school can get the opportunity to learn advanced trade skills, and earn their keep in society.
While, say, farm workers may work 18-hour days for much less than a computer programmer gets payed for 9 hours, this is only logical. The programmer payed an extravagant sum of money to go to college, while the farm worker did not. As in natural evolution, this system is not perfect: a large number of unfortunate individuals ‘fall through the cracks.’

As a further note, I have always been fascinated with WW2, primarily the actual combat technology and techinques. However, I feel insulted to have people calling Hitler ‘right-wing.’ NaZi stands for “Nationalsozialismus” or ‘National Socialism.’ The word which you are looking for is IN the NAME!

Also, as I do not in any way pretend to be perfect or at least even above-average, I feel that it is polite to tell all the people who will, quite inevitably, flame this comment that I appreciate their effort, if not their wit.

    • Some guy says:

The full name of North Korea is “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”. I guess that means it must be a democracy, according to your theory about names. And that’s just one example. Let’s not even go into the Holy Roman Empire (which was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire – it was a loose confederation of German states).

Also, you did not explain why you think socialism does not work. Of course some people would be corrupt in socialism – some people are corrupt in ANY system. Lots of people are corrupt in capitalism right now.

Oh, and the only reason why the computer programmer played an extravagant sum of money to go to college is because college in the United States is FAR more expensive than it needs to be.

  107. Fyou says:

Everyone else just let their fingers fly without bothering to think/research/read/gain knowledge beforehand. Cheers to you all, and I thank you for NOT being part of my government (good or bad as it is).

My own view, I’m not stupid enough to put out here on a HUMOR SITE, you insipid f**tards. Just say that the poster this whole thread about was both WIN/FAIL; first glance WIN because it’s a joke about the current President, FAIL because the title/caption are incorrect if you take a moment and ponder what they mean. Any further reasoning just invites stupidity and flames all around.

    And again, flame-on!
