Actually most women in abusive relationships don’t leave because they are scared. It may seem easy to just leave but they can’t because the person that beats them not only harms them physically but also emotionally, leaving the woman to feel worthless about herself. Women who get abused probably get cut off from family and friends and have their lives threatened should they even try to leave.
In fact I watched on the news once where they were covering a story about a young women who was brutally stabbed 216 times and had 11 different places on her body mutilated by her ex-boyfriend. It was mentioned that for women in abusive relationships the most dangerous time for them is leaving as their abuser might hunt them down.
Sometimes it isn’t as simple as leaving or just ’shutting the fuck up’.

I think it’s fair for people to find this funny AND for people to be offended by this.
It is -just- a joke but if you think about it, it also contributes to the desensitization, lessening of sensitivity, of women;. Notice how much more often you get “Get back in the kitchen” comments lately? Or “Make me a sammich”?
And, in every single post here where someone felt offended, nearly all the responses from the subsequent males (I assume) were pretty much all the same; antagonistic and, obviously, chauvinistic. The responses all carried the same pattern and posts thereafter followed the lead. When one person starts a trend, everyone wants to jump the bandwagon, eventually just becoming another sheep in the herd.
Realistically, this picture does suggest the viewer to take murder as something funny and, yeah, it did make me smirk a little. It’s also very telling of the society we live in, and how it will be in future times. Not only do pictures like these and other sexist put-downs contribute to the desensitization of women, they contribute to a chain effect of desensitization of pretty much -everything-.
